No, Tidy Cats Litter is not flushable. Even if a litter is labeled flushable, it can cause plumbing problems. Bag your old litter and toss it in the trash, not in the toilet. Check out Tidy’s Cat Litter Guide for more litter tips and tricks.

Cats avoid the litter box for a number of different reasons like it’s too small, it needs to be cleaned, or there has been a change in environment—just to name a few. You can get Tidy’s inside scoop on cat litter box behavior. If the problem persists, check with your veterinarian in case there’s a medical reason your cat’s bathroom behavior changed.

This could be due to a number of issues, consider these factors that play into your cat’s behavior and use them as a checklist: Underlying health problems, overcrowding of the box (with multiple cats), poor litter box location, litter box cleanliness, the wrong box size or litter and even environmental stressors can factor into your cat’s elimination patterns. Learn more about why your cat may not be using the litter box.

Primarily, cats spray to mark their territory. However, cats usually perform this behavior outdoors- so if your furry friend is spraying in your home it could be due to external stressors. If your cat is spraying on areas that lead outside, such as door and window frames, they could be frightened by something they saw outside. If the spraying occurs on chair legs, tables, etc., it could mean that they’re feeling insecure. To stop this behavior, don’t reprimand- that will only stress them more. Instead, foster an environment of support for them, by securing their spaces from other cats, slowly adapting them in the case of a move or even just leaving a toy for them in all the rooms they visit. Training a kitten to use the litter box can be easier than it seems! First, pick the right size litter box (not too big or hard to access!) and the right litter for your kitten. (Non-clumping litter, or the Breeze system are both excellent options). Next, be sure to achieve a good balance of access and privacy- place it somewhere they can get to it easily, but not too out in the open where they’ll feel uncomfortable. Finally, show your cat around the box. Introduce them to it, and if they don’t enter it on their own, gently place them inside it. Be sure to reward good litter box usage and show understanding when accidents happen- they're kittens, after all! Learn more about litter training your kitten.

Breeze Systems FAQs

No, Tidy does not recommend using alternative materials or litters in the Breeze system. The Breeze pellets have been specially designed for use in the Breeze Litter Box System. They allow moisture to drain into the absorbent pad below, making them the best fit for your system. Tidy offers several Breeze Pellet options so you can choose the best fit for you.

No, Tidy does not recommend using other pads in the Breeze System. Other pads may not be designed for the proper size and shape to fit perfectly in the system and may not accommodate up to one week’s worth of urine for a single cat, like the Breeze pads are. There are several Breeze Pad options so you can choose the version that best meets your needs.

No, the pads and pellets are not biodegradable. But the main component of our Breeze pads is paper pulp/cellulose, which is a renewable resource.

A kitten or cat may investigate newly introduced litter just as they would with any new household item. This may include sniffing, digging and, in some cases, chewing on the new item. This activity should decline as your cat adjusts to the new litter system.

As with anything new introduced into your household, we recommend monitoring your cat when introducing them to any new litter to ensure they are adapting to their new litter box appropriately. If a pet is seen eating a large amount of litter pellets, a veterinarian should be consulted and plenty of fresh water should be made available.

We recommend trying an alternative litter if a cat is chronically eating the Breeze pellets.

Our litter pellets are made of non-toxic material; however, they are not digestible. If you believe your cat may be eating or chewing on the litter, we recommend monitoring them closely to ensure they are not ingesting large amounts of litter. If a pet is seen eating a large amount of litter pellets, a veterinarian should be consulted and the cat should be observed closely for the next several hours. Plenty of fresh water should be made available.

We recommend trying an alternative litter if a cat is chronically eating the Breeze pellets. Please call us if you have any questions.

  2. Keep the Breeze Litter Box System next to the OLD box.
  3. Combine the existing litter in the OLD box with 2 cups of Breeze pellets.
  4. Each day, maintain the OLD box and add ¼ cup of Breeze litter pellets until the OLD box contains 70% Breeze litter pellets and 30% old litter.
  5. If cat continues to use the OLD box with this 70/30 mixture, slowly start reducing the amount of litter in the OLD box by ½ cup per day until there is hardly any litter left in the OLD box.
  6. Once your cat is consistently using the Breeze Litter Box System to pee and poop, remove the OLD box.

Tidy Cats Breeze works by combining super absorbent Breeze pads and anti-tracking Breeze pellets. Liquid goes to the bottom, absorbed in the pads, while solids stay on top of the pellets for easy scooping. Learn more about this litter game-changer on the Breeze page.

Tidy Cats Breeze pellets are made of Zeolite, a family of natural minerals that are non-toxic. They are 99.9% dust free, and anti-tracking to minimize mess around the litter box. Visit the Breeze Pellets page to learn more and shop.

You can get a cat to use the Breeze litter system by transitioning them slowly, allowing time to adjust. A natural first step? Start by mixing a full bag of Breeze pellets with your current litter. Visit the Breeze page to learn more about transitioning to Breeze with ease.
